"There may be such things as facts or truth but they don't matter anymore. We are in the age
of spin. Facts are done. If you are in any kind of contest whatsoever,
political, artistic, or legal, and you want to win, the sooner you accept this
the better. What matters most is what you spin, how you spin it , and who you
spin it to, not what actually happened. Even if you're telling the truth, even
if your facts are correct, if you don't spin 'em right, it doesn't matter. There are
no standards anymore, you have to convince other people, and probably not very
smart people that you are right. If you don't want to spin, if you just want to
tell the truth about the facts as best you see them, that's fine, that's what I
do, but recognize that you are going to lose to better spinners. If you make
art but don't like spinning, (otherwise known as "marketing"), that's
fine, that's me, but you won't be very successful in the world and the sooner
you accept this the better. Your choices are: spin better than the other side
and win; don't spin, lose, and be bitter and crazy about it; or like me, don't
spin, lose, and recognize that everything's dust anyway so you might as well
find some joy in your own life, do a little good in the world, and let the
spinners around you have at it." ~Me
